After a long wait, I finally got to see my little sister. Her name is MAKENA, which is an African word that means "The One Who Smiles". If you will google the word, it means "The Happy One".
My father had that affinity for something African. I was named from Nelson Mandela, the former South African President and Nobel Peace Prize Winner. And now he named my little sister, Makena which he came accross after reading an African book entitled African Nights by author Kuki Gallmann. The book is a lyrical, beautifully written tales of life in Africa.
When she was born in a hospital, I was left alone in my Ninang Adel's house because my parents told me I am not allowed to stay in the hospital. So I waited for several days until they arrived. I was so esctatic. I'm gonna be a big sister and someone will gonna call me "Ate" totally excites me.
